Steven Gerrard and Rangers were overly concerned over the status of Ryan Kent after the £7m signing was sent off in their 2-0 friendly win against Lyon on Thursday.
The French Football Federation had the option of reporting the misconduct to the Scottish FA, Kent would have been at risk of missing their opener against Aberdeen and their home opener against St. Gallen.
Kent was sent off for violent conduct following an unconvincing ‘slap’ on Brazilian defender Marcelo after the two players got tangled on the ground.
A similar circumstance occurred with former Celtic centre-back Jozo Šimunović during the 2019 pre-season. He was suspended for the first two games of the season after being sent off in a friendly with St. Gallen.
Kent will also free to face Nice in their Veolia Trophy clash on Saturday evening.
