Eighteen-year-old Ajax academy product Ryan Gravenberch has transitioned into the senior squad with ease.

After a 5-0 win over Heracles on Sunday, the central-midfielder opened up on taking a tip or two from former Ajax-player, Frenkie de Jong.

“I also like to watch Frenkie: he plays with guts,” said Gravenberch to club media.

“I also try to pick up things from the things he does well.”

Both players were recently on international duty with the Netherlands where Gravenberch earned his first call-up.

Since De Jong’s departure to Barcelona, Gravenberch has taken over his role for Erik ten Hag’s side and has become an important piece of the puzzle.

“I do [the position] a bit the same. Being the sagging midfielder is a bit my game.”

“That suits me. Then I can decide from there what I’m going to do.”

Gravenberch currently has 10 appearances and three assists for Ajax across all competitions.
