Sudinfo are reporting that RWDM have rejected an offer from Standard Liege for striker Makhtar Gueye, While the forward is keen on a move to Liege, the deal is dead in the water as RWDM want a permanent transfer, while Standard can only offer a loan with a purchase option of €2m. Standard are desperately searching for a new forward, having lost loanees Kelvin Yeboah and Wilfried Kanga in the summer. They had been in discussions with South African forward Lebo Mothiba but the sides could not agree on a deal.

Gueye joined RWDM from Oostende last season and scored 11 goals in 35 games. The 26-year-old Senegalese forward has a contract with the Brussels club until 2026.

Currently, the club are about to start the season with just Soufiane Benjdida as a fit forward. One of their recent signings Grejohn Kyei was delayed in joining the squad and has missed out on most of the pre-season preparation. Benjdida, formerly of Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca, made his debut for the first-team during the play-offs late last season. He had scored six goals in 23 games for the second team during their Challenger Pro League campaign. In two games for the first team he has already scored once. He left Raja having scored 13 goals in 65 games.
