Following Southampton's first Premier League win against Everton in the tenth league matchday, the Southampton fans are now much confident about the Saints completing an impressive comeback to avoid relegation this season. Over the previous few weeks, there were a lot of speculations regarding manager Russell Martin's exit from the St. Mary's Stadium, but the Saints have shown significant progress after securing back-to-back wins in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.
After the match, manager Russell Martin also expressed his delight at securing the first three points from the match, and thanked the fans and the Southampton board for continuously believing in the squad to quickly take good results in the league campaign. While talking about his ambitions for the remainder of the season after the 1-0 win, manager Russell Martin admitted that he will continue to give his level best, saying,
"I just go in, give it everything I've got and hope it'll be enough and if it's not, at least I know that I've done everything I possibly can."- Russell Martin
While the Southampton board are backing Russell Martin to succeed in the Premier League, there are still some chances that the Saints may get relegated again at the end of the season. This is due to the fact that two seasons ago, the Saints were similarly inconsistent in the Premier League after taking a few wins and thus, Southampton need to improve their consistency this season to successfully avoid relegation.

Moreover, other bottom-table sides such as Wolves and Crystal Palace have also stepped up their performances in recent matches and thus, Southampton need to continue their winning momentum in the next league fixtures as well. Therefore, the next away match against nineteenth-placed Wolves is another must-win game for Southampton as a win in this six-pointer match could boost their momentum even further before the upcoming international break.
