Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has leapt to the defence of Benjamin Pavard and has insisted that he can become one of the best players in the world.
The French international has been subject to some level of criticism recently due to the problems at the back for the Bundesliga champions.
However, he has the backing of people in high positions amongst the corridors of the Allianz Arena.
Rummenigge, speaking to Welt, said: “Benji is a great player who can get much better.
“He’s a fantastic defender and absolutely capable of becoming one of the best right-backs in the world.
“It is up to him to motivate himself so that he can do it.”
Pavard has featured in nine league games for the club this season following a debut campaign at the club that was infiltrated by injury.
