Napoli manager Rudi Garcia has found himself on the firing line following the continuous decline in results.
The French gaffer succeeded Luciano Spalletti in the summer, shouldering massive expectations along with him because of Napoli’s Scudetto triumph last season.
Although Garcia enjoyed a great start by winning the opening two games of Serie A, things have taken a turn for the worse since then.
The Partenopei were handed their first taste of the defeat against Lazio, followed by back-to-back draws against Genoa and Bologna.
Regardless of the victory against Braga in the Champions League opener, doubts have started to emerge over the former Al Nassr manager’s abilities.
To aggravate the situation, Garcia was involved in a spat with Victor Osimhen on the touchline during the game against Bologna, with the Nigerian striker venting his frustrations towards the head coach for his substitution.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Garcia’s position is in jeopardy, and the Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis has handed him a three-match ultimatum to improve the results.
The upcoming games against Udinese, Lecce and Fiorentina and the Champions League fixture against Real Madrid will be decisive for the former Lyon boss.
The Partenopei also have two names in their mind as a possible replacement for Garcia: Christophe Galtier and Igor Tudor.
Galtier has been without a job since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, but he is currently the leading candidate for the head coach role at Marseille.
Meanwhile, Tudor parted ways with Marseille in the summer after a one-year spell with the Ligue 1 giants.
Trailing table leaders Inter Milan by seven points at seventh place, Napoli face a crucial game against Udinese on Wednesday to regain momentum.
Osimhen has been at his usual best this season, finding the nets three times in five appearances.
However, last season’s breakout star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s decline in form looks a serious concern.
The Georgian winger has failed to score a goal this season while managing only one assist.
