Chelsea’s team for this afternoon’s game against Tottenham is out, and there’s two interesting changes to the side that beat Everton last week.

Marc Cucurella coming on for Ben Chilwell at left wing back is a straight swap, but the switch of Ruben Loftus-Cheek for Cesar Azpilicueta is a more interesting one.

In hints that Reece James will drop back and play on the right of the three at the back, with RLC playing in his place at right wing back.

We saw similar changes mad a few times last season, with Azpilicueta usually the player deployed to the right hand side.

Today’s selection shows that RLC is likely to have an important role this season as a backup for Reece James, certainly if a new right wing back isn’t signed.

A good performance from the academy product today might indeed convince Tuchel and the board that we’re set in that position for now.
