Club Deportivo Guadalajara informs that Ruben Gonzalez has joined the team as of today. El ‘Oso’ was formed as a professional in El Rebaño Sagrado and made his debut in Liga MX playing in the Guadalajara jersey. His arrival will help preserve the solidity in the zone in which he functions on the field and solve the absences of Sergio Flores and Jesus Molina due to injury.
The Chivas youth player is a midfielder who plays at a high pace, capable of speeding up the game and accompanied by with his playmaking skills. He is a very useful element when it comes to recouping lost balls, good at forward and horizontal pressing, which just goes to show shows us how fast he is when in motion.
A resource in Guadalajara's favor with the arrival of Gonzalez is his performance in intercepting rebounds, he is always on the ball and is watchful of capturing these types of rebounds, a skill that went against the Chiverío in the Clausura 2022. In addition, the native of Mexico City has a good individual skills in playing with first intention passing and finding teammates between the lines, a situation that could be well exploited to reinforce the attackers.
Ruben Gonzalez's first contact with soccer teams was in Pachuca, just after his family moved there when he was a child. Later, another change of residence took him to Mexicali, Baja California, from where he was called up to be part of the El Rebaño’s youth academy. He spent two years with Chivas San Rafael and later joined the club, in the Fourth Division.
One of the Coaches from whom he learned the most during his development in the Cantera Rojiblanca was Alberto Coyote, who coached him in the U-17 category. What better example than him for his development as a recovery midfielder. He has been a two-time U-17 and U-20 champion. Curiously, another historic Guadalajara player, Benjamín Galindo, gave him his debut in the First Division on matchday 8 of the 2013 Clausura against Leon.
In order to further his growth, he spent several seasons in the silver circuit, with Coras and Zacatepec. He then returned to Liga MX with Necaxa and had a steady participation with the Rayos for the last 3 tournaments, which led him to play with the Águilas, Leon as well as a second stint with the Rayos, in which he became the undisputed starter.
