RR: The details of what Ibrahimovic’s ‘advisor’ role at Milan really means | OneFootball

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is officially back at AC Milan and this time, it is as a Senior Advisor after he was hired by RedBird Capital Group.

Whilst fans are undoubtedly happy that a former player who has won league titles with Milan is back at the club, the phrase ‘senior advisor’ is vague and they may be unsure what the Swedish former striker will actually be doing.

As reported by Radio Rossonera, he is going to be an ‘Operational Partner’ of RedBird who own Milan, which they say means he will ‘collaborate with the firm’s global investment team in supporting RedBird’s existing investment portfolio in sports, media and entertainment. He will help source and evaluate new investment opportunities for the company and advise RedBird portfolio companies on business projects, digital content strategies and strategic brand-building initiatives to extend their presence on a global basis.’

By being an advisor for Milan, he will essentially be a go-between for RedBird and the management at Milan. He is going to have sway over player development, high-performance training, and the club’s commercial and global activities’.

It appears to be a purposely open-ended job title so that Ibrahimovic can help in whatever way he and RedBird see fit. He may even be working directly with Stefano Pioli at times which would mean he has involvement at multiple levels of the club.
