🇪🇸 Roque grabs his first as Barça inch past Osasuna for important win | OneFootball

Barcelona had Vitor Roque to thank for earning them a 1-0 win against Osasuna to move into third place in La Liga, for a few hours at least.

Barça suffered an early blow with Ferran Torres becoming their latest injury victim, hobbling off after just eight minutes.

They struggled to create any clear cut chances in the opening 30 minutes, Torres’ replacement Fermín López coming the closest to getting onto balls from Pedri and Lamine Yamal.

López was his side’s best outlet for much of the first half, getting on the end of a João Cancelo ball but Osasuna keeper Aitor Fernández did well to smother the ball before the 20-year-old could get his strike away.

The visitors could have taken the lead shortly after, their top scorer Ante Budimir heading wide after a corner diverted towards him. It was their only effort of a first half spent negating their illustrious opponents.

Into the second half, Barça were crying out for a spark and found one in another substitute, Vitor Roque. The Brazilian came on for the unfortunate López in the 62nd minute, and opened the scoring just 64 second later with a header from a Cancelo cross.

Four minutes later, Roque was again at the centre of the action, being taken out by Unai García as he looked to counter. The Osasuna defender received his marching orders as a result.

Barça could and probably should have doubled their lead before the end with Robert Lewandowski having a goal ruled out for offside, as well as Cancelo and Roque coming close.

It didn’t matter as they held out for an important win after a dramatic few days for everyone at the club.
