Ronaldo admits he was ‘in decline’ at Milan but recalls ‘incredible experience’ | OneFootball

Former AC Milan striker Ronaldo has spoken in a very complimentary way about his experience with the Rossoneri.

The Brazilian is widely considered one of the greatest players of all time and could have had that title outright had he not suffered with injuries in the way that he did, having become an idol for many young players of the current generation.

Ronaldo scored seven goals in 14 appearances in his first season and looked at times to have rediscovered his best form, but he only played 300ish minutes in his second season at the club due to recurring injury problems.

During a Sky interview with Alessandro Del Piero, Ronaldo ‘Il Fenomeno’ also spoke about his time at Milan during which great things were expected but he was never really in the right physical condition to influence the game as he did in the years prior.

“Of my teams I remained tied to Inter and Real. Before going to Milan I tried to return to Inter, I also called Moratti, but nothing was done,” he said (via MilanNews).

“At Milan I tried, but I was already in decline (laughs). It was an incredible experience anyway. It was an advanced society in technology, infrastructures, they worked better than the others. I knew it.

“My celebration in the derby against Inter? I don’t know who I wanted to provoke, if it was the fans or Moratti. I had no reason, but I was young.”
