Ivan Rakitic has trolled Romelu Lukaku following Belgium’s World Cup exit on Thursday afternoon.
Fail to win and The Red Devils would go home at the group stages.
Belgium have struggled to score goals in Qatar and it was more of the same against Croatia.
Lukaku started the game as a substitute and was sent on with half-an-hour remaining with the score locked at 0-0.
The 29-year-old has hit the back of the net just twice this season but Roberto Martinez hoped he would rescue his side and fire them to the knockout rounds.
Unfortunately for Lukaku, he had a nightmare.
The Inter Milan forward had a number of guilt-edged chances but could not hit the back of the net.
He hit the post with the goal gaping and, in stoppage-time, failed to hit the back of the net from a few yards out.
The game ended 0-0, which sealed Belgium’s exit from the competition.
Lukaku was full of emotion at the final whistle.
After an embrace with Thierry Henry, Lukaku’s sadness turned to anger as he punched and broke the dugout window.
Lukaku’s misses meant it was Croatia who finished second in Group F and progressed to the last 16.
Rakitic took to social media after the match and he couldn’t resist trolling Lukaku.
The 34-year-old, who made 106 appearances for his country before retiring from international duty in 2019, applauded Lukaku for his misses and invited him to Croatia as a reward.
“Let’s go Lukaku!” Rakitic said while celebrating. “We have to pay him a month of vacation in Split. Let’s go!” He said, per the Daily Mail.
Rakitic ends the video by blowing a kiss to the camera.
