Manchester United could yet make a drastic change to their goalkeeping contingent before the window slams shut in a few weeks’ time.

It’s no secret that, heading into the summer, INEOS’s utmost priority was granting Ruben Amorim forward reinforcements in the aftermath of a campaign in which United scored just 44 Premier League goals.

Now, it’s safe to say that the boss has been backed in that department, given he will enter 2025/2026 with a completely new-look frontline following the additions of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

The business might not end there for the Reds, though.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the key decision-makers at Old Trafford are still mulling over the potential arrival of a new shot-stopper.

He explained on YouTube last night that INEOS are contemplating whether a younger, cheaper target, such as Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp, would be the most suitable route to take, or whether they go purely for experience in the form of either Emiliano Martinez or Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Of the two seasoned pros, Donnarumma looks the most likely to depart his club this summer after reaching a stalemate in contract negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.

Donnarumma tempted by United interest

What’s more, talkSPORT reporter Anil Kandola claims Donnarumma, a Champions League winner in 2024/2025, has set his sights on a move to the 20-time English champions if he is to leave the Parc des Princes in the coming weeks.

Amorim is said to be ‘pushing’ INEOS behind the scenes to sanction the arrival of a new No.1, although it remains to be seen what it would mean for Andre Onana, whom the club forked out £47.9 million for only two years ago.

He has garnered interest from the Saudi Pro League and Monaco, so it may be worth United putting the feelers out now to gauge the prospect of the Cameroonian cutting short his tenure in M16.
