Roma rejected several offers for Pisilli before starting debut vs Juventus | OneFootball

Roma are extremely pleased with Niccolo Pisilli’s performance in his first ever start for the club in the match against Juventus.

The 19-year-old midfielder who grew up in the youth sector had set himself the goal since the beginning of Roma’s preseason training camp to carve out a place in the first team, confirming the feelings that De Rossi and the club had about him.

According to Il Tempo, over the course of the summer the likes of Monza, Venezia and, above all, Lecce came forward for the midfielder but Roma never went beyond the request for a dry loan which did not convince the suitors.

The capital club did not wish to rid themselves of the talented youngster who made his debut a year under Jose Mourinho in the Europa League group stage.

After the market closed in Italy, Austrian side Lask Linz came forward with a dry loan proposal, guaranteeing him minutes in the Austrian Bundesliga and Conference League – an ideal scenario both for the player and club.

However, that is when De Rossi stepped in. Pisilli’s last days of work with the rest of the group convinced the coach to keep him until he was rewarded with the starting place against Juventus. A prelude to what could be a truly “grown-up” season for one of Trigoria’s most crystal-clear talents.
