Roma in talks for potential Theate return to Serie A from Rennes | OneFootball

Reports in Belgium suggest Arthur Theate could return to Serie A for Roma in a loan deal with option to buy for €18m from Stade Rennais.

It would be a comeback for the central defender, who already wore the Bologna jersey in the 2021-22 campaign.

According to transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri, there are negotiations between Roma and Stade Rennais, but so far no formal proposal has been made.

They are discussing the possibility of a loan deal with option to buy at the end of the season for a total of €18m.

It would reflect the fact that Rennes paid €19m to purchase Theate from Bologna in the summer of 2022, along with up to another €3m in add-ons.

Theate targeted by many clubs

This has been a complicated summer for the Belgium international, who has 18 senior caps and was part of the squad at EURO 2024.

He had seemed on the verge of a move to the Saudi Pro League for Al-Ittihad and was also previously linked with Serie A side Atalanta.
