Corriere dello Sport report that AS Roma placed their first bid for Mkhitaryan recently. Working through the player’s agent, they’re opening negotiations with Arsenal, who are willing to hold a discussion over the transfer.

For now, the two clubs are a way apart in terms of valuation though. Arsenal want around €24m, Roma are offering €15m plus €2m in bonuses. The belief is that they’ll go as high as €20m, but not €24m.

As for Mkhitaryan, he reportedly loves the city and the idea of living permanently in Italy. The Italian outlet doesn’t expect personal terms to cause problems, with a decrease in wages but a longer deal, providing more security for the 31-year-old.

With the current situation in Italy, there’s no chance we’ll see Mkhitaryan on the pitch for a while yet. If the season ends early, perhaps that will affect Roma’s willingness to buy. It’s hard to say at this point.
