Real Madrid were trying to re-establish their eight-point lead over Barcelona at the top of LaLiga when they hosted Athletic Club at the Bernabéu on Sunday.
And they made the perfect start, when Rodrygo fired them in front after just eight minutes.

Wearing their new purple fourth kit, the Brazilian found the top corner from the edge of the box with a stunning finish for 1-0.
That was his first goal at club level since he scored against Girona in early February, and his evening got even better when he scored his side’s second goal later in the game too.
