After 10 years at Tottenham Hotspur, captain Heung-Min Son announced that he would be leaving the Premier League club this summer. According to AS, the South Korean’s departure now opens the door for Rodrygo, who also had interest from Arsenal, to switch clubs.

Tottenham have already asked Real Madrid for permission to speak to Rodrygo who, per AS, has so far made no mention of his desire to leave Los Blancos. But in a World Cup year, that could change after the 24-year-old saw much more of the bench during the recent FIFA Club World Cup under Xabi Alonso. And with the arrival of Argentine sensation Franco Mastantuono and the performances of Gonzalo García (21) during the tournament, Rodrygo may no longer find himself in the starting eleven.

AS further add that money to sign Rodrygo wouldn’t be an issue. Son – who is set to join LAFC – earned more than €11m per season at Tottenham, which can be reinvested in Rodrygo. And even after signing Mohammad Kudus from West Ham for £55m, they were ready to trigger the £60m release clause in Morgan Gibbs-White’s contract, suggesting that there is money there.
