Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on midfielder James Maddison ahead of their clash with Watford at the weekend.

Maddison has been instrumental in a Leicester side that has struggled to reach the heights of the past campaign, scoring 15 goals and providing nine assists.

“I saw some highlights, talking about KDB scoring 18 goals, he’s playing in a top team, James has had to work for every goal, he’s not had any penalties,” said Rodgers.

“He’s been outstanding. We talked through his game and the level of intensity he adds. He elevates the team. To do it in the Premier League as a midfield player, he has shown he is one of the top players at this level.”

The England international was heavily linked with a move away from the Foxes before the season started, and rumours about his future have resurfaced.

“It’s not as if he’s not known,” admitted the 49-year-old.

“I worry about them playing well for Leicester City. I’m really pleased for him. He works so hard. The magic he has in his feet.”

After their trip to the Hornets, Leicester head to Chelsea before concluding their season at home to Southampton.
