Rob Green didnât play a single minute for Chelsea this season but you wouldnât have known it on Wednesday.
After his side won the Europa League in Baku against Arsenal, the goalkeeper was front and centre of the trophy lift, milking it all.
That was all the more surprising given that he wasnât even part of the matchday squad.
It didnât stop him kitting out though and enjoying every single minute of the celebrations on the field.
âArsenal had the open top bus but they didnât have a clue what we were planning,â he joked in an interview Chelsea TV.
âThey needed more than a leader on the pitch. They needed one who wasnât actually playing. This was my chance to give something back.
âThe emotion was real. Iâll never forget the look on Willianâs face. He looked at me and said âwhat are you doing here?â
âIt is a classic never give up fairytale. This has the potential to change player celebrations forever!â
Hats off, Rob Green. Not the hero we need, but the one we deserve.
