Rob Green didn’t play a single minute for Chelsea this season but you wouldn’t have known it on Wednesday.

After his side won the Europa League in Baku against Arsenal, the goalkeeper was front and centre of the trophy lift, milking it all.

That was all the more surprising given that he wasn’t even part of the matchday squad.

It didn’t stop him kitting out though and enjoying every single minute of the celebrations on the field.

“Arsenal had the open top bus but they didn’t have a clue what we were planning,” he joked in an interview Chelsea TV.

“They needed more than a leader on the pitch. They needed one who wasn’t actually playing. This was my chance to give something back.

“The emotion was real. I’ll never forget the look on Willian’s face. He looked at me and said ‘what are you doing here?’

“It is a classic never give up fairytale. This has the potential to change player celebrations forever!”
