According to De Telegraaf, RKC Waalwijk want to sign Ruben Kluivert from FC Utrecht. The 21-year-old central defender is the son of Dutch icon Patrick Kluivert, who experienced an illustrious career as a striker for Ajax, AC Milan, Barcelona and the Dutch national team.

Ruben Kluivert’s career kicked off as a youth for his local club Amsterdamsche FC. In 2018 he made the move to FC Utrecht’s academy where he made his senior debut for the reserve team in 2020. This season Kluivert has played eleven times for the first team in the Eredivisie. Utrecht currently sit in 7th in the table, with the aim of holding their Europa Conference league play-off spot.

Kluivert’s potential move to Waalwijk could indicate that Henk Fraser will succeed Joseph Oosting as RKC’s manager. This follows the news that Oosting has decided to leave Waalwijk for FC Twente at the end of the season. Henk Fraser managed FC Utrecht at the start of the season and was said to be a big fan of Ruben Kluivert.

The youngster still has a year remaining on his contract at Utrecht, but could be a good option for Waalwijk who have just lost defender Saïd Bakari to Sparta Rotterdam. Waalwijk are also likely to lose their talented Belgian defender Shawn Adewoye this summer following an impressive season. If Ruben Kluivert desires more game time, a move to Waalwijk could be the perfect option for the 21-year-old.
