Richarlison was only on the pitch for 20 minutes during the north London derby – but he was certainly involved throughout the match.

Arsenal ran out 2-0 winners at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take a giant leap towards their first Premier League title since 2003/04.

As for Spurs, their chances of finishing in the top four and qualifying for next season’s Champions League are looking slimmer by the week.

Being beaten in your own stadium by your biggest rivals as they became favourites to win the title meant it was a tough afternoon for everyone associated with Spurs.

And those frustrations boiled over at times.

But that’s not all.

Richarlison was involved in a moment of note with compatriot Garbiel Martinelli before he was substituted on.

In the 55th minute, in an act of showboating, Martinelli went over to take a corner.

After seeing his Brazilian teammate stood by the corner flag, Martinelli held out his hand looking for a handshake. But there was no handshake forthcoming from Richarlison who completely ignored him before waving him away in disgust.

The watching Spurs fans cheered before Martinelli swung in the corner.

That’s not how you treat your countryman, is it?

Richarlison later apologised to Martinelli

To be fair to Richarlison, he apologised to Martinelli after the match in a post-match interview.

“I’d like to apologise to Martinelli, I told him he was diving a lot, so I didn’t shake his hand,” Richarlison said. “Also with Magalhaes, I told him they were stopping play all the time, I just said, ‘let’s play.’

“What I really didn’t like was their goalkeeper. He was celebrating in front of our fans, that’s a disrespect to our fans. He should have celebrated with their fans.”

Ramsdale: Fan attack left a sour taste

While ignoring a handshake isn’t anything too serious in the grand scheme of things, attacking a player is.

The match finished with Richarlison confronting Ramsdale before a fan kicked the Arsenal goalkeeper in the back.

Ramsdale explained what happened afterwards.

“The Spurs fans were giving me some [stick] throughout the second half,” he explained. “I gave them some back, and the people I did do it to [took it in the right spirit]. And then a fan jumped over and gave me a little punch in the back.

“That’s what happened, and it’s a shame as it’s just a game of football at the end of the day. Thankfully nothing too drastic happened. It’s a sour taste but I’m sure we’ll enjoy it when we’re back in the dressing-room.”
