Chivas sporting director Ricardo Peláez has revealed that manager Marcelo Michel Leaño will stay in charge at least until the end of the season.
Much has been debated regarding Leaño’s future but Peláez insists he remains confident in the 35-year-old despite Chivas currently residing in 10th place through 11 of their 17 games.
“We will continue with him (Marcelo Leaño). Weeks go by and names have come out but we have not considered making a change of course.
“Marcelo is going to finish the tournament as far as we go and then we are going to meet with him to hold him accountable.
“We are not satisfied. I think the obligation of this team is to be in the Liguilla and be a contender, and I am convinced that, with Marcelo, we will achieve that.
“Just as I tell you that we are not happy, I tell you that we maintain this project for these reasons.”
Leaño, who hails from Guadalajara, has compiled a rather forgettable record of five wins, seven draws, and eight defeats (1.1 points per game) since taking over in September.
