Manchester United were the last team to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season, and Erik ten Hag’s side are looking to win their second trophy of the campaign, having lifted the League Cup in February.

City battered United 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium in October, as boyhood Blues Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both scored hat-tricks.

In the reverse fixture, City fell to a frustarting 2-1 defeat, as quick-fire goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford helped the Reds come from behind to secure a surprise victory.

City and United are meeting in an FA Cup Final for the first time in the competitions history, though the two local rivals famously met in the semi-finals in 2011, as the Blues memorably won 1-0 on route to lifting the trophy.

Yaya Toure scored the winning goal against United in the semi-finals and Stoke City in the Final, as the FA Cup kickstarted a momentous period for Manchester City.

City are looking to win the FA Cup for the first time since 2019 next weekend, and as a result of planned industrial action on the railways, an extensive security operation has been planned to prevent disorder.

The Daily Mail report that 160 coaches will be transporting fans from Manchester to North London, with both City and United having worked closely with the FA and safety groups to form major plans.

City and United supporters will leave from separate points in Manchester and take different routes, as bus drivers and fans driving to the match will be issued with a match-pack, which will include a list of designated service stations.

The MEN revealed that TFGM have issued a list of allocated motorway service stations, which for Manchester City includes; Lymm, Sandbach, Stafford, Watford Gap and London Gateway.

Manchester United fans’ allocation includes: Knutsford, Keele, Hilton, Warwick, and Beaconsfield.

A spokesperson for the Met Police told the Daily Mail: “Discussions are taking place between the Met, the FA, the local authority, British Transport Police and other partners to ensure the safety and security of those attending the final at Wembley on Saturday, 3 June.”

The kick-off time of the 2023 FA Cup Final was moved to 3pm last month, after the Met Police reportedly raised concerns about the “high-risk” fixture being played in the evening.
