Manchester United reportedly made an ‘obscene offer’ for highly-rated Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi last month.

According to Corriere dello Sport, as reported by FCInterNews, the Red Devils approached the Italian manager in September, only to be instantly rebuffed by the ex-Lazio boss.

An unnamed intermediary reportedly pitched Inzaghi with a tangible proposal, yet it fell on the 48-year-old’s deaf ears.

Despite Manchester United’s willingness to cover him in gold, the former striker has remained loyal to Inter.

Simone Inzaghi landed at Giuseppe Meazza in 2021 to replace Scudetto-winning coach Antonio Conte.

Though he arrived with relatively modest expectations, he has become a household figure among the club faithful.

As it turns out, Inzaghi sees this Inter side as his ‘creation’ and has no intention of breaking ties with the team he led to the Serie A title last term.

It’s no secret that Manchester United are keen to part ways with underachieving manager Erik ten Hag.

However, high-profile alternatives are at a premium.

Inzaghi has quickly emerged as an appealing option due to his attacking-minded football and strategic approach.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils aren’t the only Premier League team to have noticed the Inter coach’s qualities.

Before appointing Arne Slot, Liverpool briefly considered Inzaghi a potential long-term replacement for Jurgen Klopp.

In addition, Chelsea thought about tempting the Nerazzurri chief of staff with a lucrative offer after cutting Maurizio Pochettino loose.

They eventually hired Enzo Maresca, largely thanks to Inzaghi’s ambition to stay at Inter.

Indeed, the sought-after manager has two more years left to run on his contract at Meazza.

With Inter vying for their 21st Scudetto and a standout result in the UEFA Champions League, now’s not the time to cut ties.
