The pressure is on Leicester City heading into the final weeks of the Championship season.

Following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of the previous campaign, the Foxes have looked odds on to secure an immediate return to the top-flight for most of this season.

Indeed, they were 17 points clear at the top of the table on New Year's Day. Since then however, a poor run of form has seen them dragged back into a much larger battle for promotion.

Leicester have now dropped to second in the Championship table, a point behind leaders Ipswich Town, and one clear of third place Leeds United, with just a handful of games still to be played.

As a result, promotion back to the Premier League for Enzo Maresca's side no longer looks anywhere near as certain as it once did.

But for Leicester, overcoming this blip to secure promotion this season may be more important than it is for most, due to their financial situation.

Leicester hit by Financial Fair Play charges

Last month, it emerged that the Foxes had been charged by the Premier League, for breaching Profit and Sustainability regulations, relating to their spending.

Although they will not be punished for that this season, the threat of a points deduction continues to hang over the King Power Stadium.

Indeed, concerns have also emerged about the club's spending this season, which puts them under further scrutiny.

Winning promotion, and the financial windfall that would bring, would therefore help to ease some pressure on Leicester when it comes to their off-field situation.

In the meantime though, exactly what Leicester are spending money on this season, is going to be analysed closely, amid this uncertainty.

That of course, includes the fees they are paying to agents, to help complete agreements they have secured with players over the course of the campaign.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at how much Leicester have spent on agent fees this season, and how that compares to the rest of the Championship, right here.

Foxes among biggest payers to agents

According to a report from Wales Online, new figures show that Leicester have paid a total £8,113,789 to agents over the course of this season.

That is the second-highest figure paid to agents by any club in the Championship this season.

Only Leeds United, who like Leicester were relegated from the Premier League last season, and are also competing to win promotion during the current campaign, have paid more in agent fees over the course of this season.

It is thought that the Elland Road club have themselves paid £13,287,784 to agents in the current campaign, over £5million more than even Leicester.

By contrast, Rotherham United, who are already guaranteed to finish bottom of the Championship table this season, paid the least to agents over this period, investing £440,671 in this area.

From Leicester's perspective though, the fact they are among the biggest spenders in the Championship when it comes to agent fees, only reinforces the argument that they must be winning promotion back to the Premier League this season.

That way, not only will they be meeting expectations, but more importantly, they will be helping to reduce at least some, if not all, of the financial pressure they are under amid this sort of spending.
