Barcelona handed chance to sign another free agent midfielder, with Xavi keen | OneFootball

La Liga giants Barcelona have been offered the chance to sign a member of the midfield ranks at English outfit Leicester City on a free transfer.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Wilfred Ndidi as being the player in question.

Nigerian international Ndidi is set to see his contract terms with Leicester come to an end in the summer.

With little progress having been made in negotiations towards a renewal, the 27-year-old, in turn, has been offered to the aforementioned Barcelona, through intermediaries.

It is of course common knowledge that the Barca brass are on the lookout for deep-lying midfield reinforcements with a view to next season.

And Ndidi, in the midst of a stellar individual campaign in The Championship, certainly appears to fit the bill.

In turn, Sport suggest that Blaugrana head coach Xavi ‘has followed the player and considers that he is an interesting footballer and that he would fit into the team’.

It is also worth noting, though, that the board at the Camp Nou are already locked in discussions with another impending free agent midfielder, in the form of Real Betis’ Guido Rodríguez.
