Joao Gomes will miss Wolves’ next three games following the Brazilian’s red card.

Wolves started the game brightly until the ninth minute when Joao Gomes received a straight red card, due to a late challenge on Norgaad.

Wolves lost majority of their attacking flow in the first half when they went down to ten men.

Brentford had majority of the possession but little to show for it until the 41st minute when the ball fell to Neal Maupay inside the area, who dispatched his shot into the top left corner.

The visitors went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Wolves came out of the blocks quicker than Brentford, however the visitors struggled to break down any clear cut chances.

Wolves showed their resilience in the 61st minute with a corner straight off the training ground.

A short corner played which was played out to Tommy Doyle who scored his first Wolves in some fashion outside the 18-yard box.

Doyle’s goal gave the Old Gold belief, with consistent pressure immediately after the scores were level.

Lewis-Potter had a great chance to give Brentford the lead in the 86th minute however his header was denied by Jose Sa.

Wolves were dangerous on the counter attack in the final stages but could not convert their chances.

This result means Brentford will travel to Molineux for an FA Cup replay.

Going forward in the Premier League, the bees will host Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest.

Wolves will travel to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton & Hove Albion.
