Republic of Ireland ended their UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifying group games by taking their first points in a fine 3-1 victory over France.
Denise O’Sullivan made the breakthrough in the 66th minute in front of over 18,000 at at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, her shot from just outside the box finding the corner of the net.
Julie-Ann Russell doubled the advantage approaching the last quarter of an hour with a fine finish, but group winners France halved the deficit through Vicki Becko down to the last dozen minutes.
Victory was sealed by re-establishing the two-goal cushion on 90 minutes, Megan Connolly’s corner glanced in by Anna Patten off Grace Geyoro.
