Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti was a surprise scratch from the team’s recent Ligue 1 fixture against Rennes. PSG revealed that the Italian midfielder had recently suffered a knock to his right knee with a notable strained internal lateral ligament.

This injury for Verratti is now deemed to be a significant one. L’Equipe notes that Verratti is expected to be sidelined for the next three weeks due to the injury. Thus, this injury for the PSG midfielder will keep him out from the team’s final two Ligue 1 matches of the season along with its upcoming Coupe de France semifinal fixture against Montpellier.

Should PSG advance on through to the Coupe de France final, PSG will also be without Verratti due to his injury.

For now, Verratti will certainly look ahead to being fully fit by the time that next month’s Euro 2020 tournament kicks off. The PSG star is expected to be among the key players for the Italian national team in this edition of the Euros.
