Tottenham Hotspur youngster Oliver Skipp undergoes surgery after metatarsal fracture

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp, who is out on loan at Norwich City, has undergone a surgery to repair a fractured metatarsal and will not play again this season.

Skipp, 20, is a product of the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy. Widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects to have come through the ranks, the central midfielder made his first-team debut back in 2018 and has gone on to make 23 appearances for the senior team.

Last summer saw Skipp being sent out on loan to Norwich City in order to aid his development. And the move paid off big time as the Englishman established himself as a permanent fixture in the middle of the park for the Canaries. Indeed, Skipp played a key role in Daniel Farke’s side winning the EFL Championship and earning promotion back to the Premier League.

Skipp has featured 47 times across all competitions for Norwich this term, scoring one goal and setting up a couple more. However, the midfielder fractured his metatarsal during the 4-1 win over Reading which won the title for the Canaries. Following that, he has had to undergo surgery and will, thus, be not involved in their remaining game of the season against Barnsley this weekend.

Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber was full of praise for Skipp and insisted that Norwich would be happy to take him on loan once again next term, while also thanking the Tottenham hierarchy for letting him join the club in the first place. (h/t Sky Sports)
