Inter are currently undergoing a small injury crisis, with forward Matteo Politano likely to start against Sassuolo next weekend, according to today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
Coach Antonio Conte has lost former Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez due to an injury with the Chilean national team yesterday, with defender Danilo D’Ambrosio also suffering a foot injury that’s required him to pull out from Italy’s upcoming game against Liechtenstein.
The report highlights how the coach will also not have star midfielder Stefano Sensi at his disposal against Sassuolo, with former Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku also unlikely to play due to the Nerazzurri’s Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund taking place only a few days later.
22-year-old striker Lautaro Martinez won’t return to Inter’s training ground until two days before the Sassuolo game, leaving the door open for 26-year-old Italian Matteo Politano to start for the Nerazzurri.
