A report has stated the date Liverpool have to make a decision on whether or not they want to activate the purchase option in Ozan Kabak’s loan deal from FC Schalke by.
According to German outlet Fussball Transfers, Kabak has a €20m option-to-buy clause in his Liverpool loan contract and the Reds have to make a call by the end of May to activate it.
The report claims Schalke would be willing to negotiate a different price with other clubs if Liverpool opt against taking up the option before the date passes by.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Earlier this month, Football Insider claimed Liverpool are trying to renegotiate a fee for Kabak and believe that they can land him for around £10m. Liverpool are said to be attempting to take advantage of Schalke’s financial situation by offering a lower amount of money for Kabak in the hope that they can save themselves £8m in the summer transfer window.
Whilst this latest update does not mention a £10m fee, it does back up that Schalke could be willing to alter their valuation at the end of the season. This means that Liverpool could opt against activating the €20m clause and then start trying to secure a deal for £10m in June ahead of the 2021/22 campaign. This way, Liverpool could sign the Turkish international for much cheaper than they initially expected when he came through the door on loan in January.
