According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid are becoming increasingly aware of the challenges involved in signing Arsenal centre-back William Saliba, especially when compared to Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate.
While both French defenders are admired within the club, the two situations are unfolding very differently.
It is to be noted that Saliba is under contract with Arsenal until 2027, and the Gunners have no intention of letting their defensive star leave easily.
The Premier League side is working to secure a long-term renewal and is expected to offer him a major salary upgrade.
Real Madrid believe Arsenal could succeed in tying him, a scenario that would all but end hopes of seeing him in white.
Unlike Saliba, Konate appears to be on a very different path. The 26-year-old has already turned down multiple contract renewal offers from Liverpool, and his current deal expires in 2026.

Madrid view this as a window of opportunity, especially considering Konate’s desire to join Real Madrid as a free agent.
Within Valdebebas, there is confidence that the deal is trending in the right direction. Konate is attracted by the club’s sporting project, and the potential signing bonus from arriving on a free is another strong incentive.
Liverpool, however, are not blind to this reality. They are aware of Madrid’s interest and are open to selling the Frenchman, but only at a high price.
This is where Madrid hesitate, as they are unwilling to pay a significant fee for a player who could be free in less than a year.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, are content to wait. They see Konate as a valuable addition who could arrive at little cost if Liverpool refuse to budge on their demands.
While Saliba may be out of reach for now, the road to bringing Konate to the Santiago Bernabeu looks far more promising.
