This summer promises to be a thrilling one for football transfers, with Arsenal and West Ham at the epicenter of a striker-focused merry-go-round. TalkSport reports that Arsenal has shifted its focus to Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, a former Coventry standout, as their primary target for the coveted number 9 role.
Gyokeres has outshone expectations in Portugal this season, notching an impressive tally of 36 goals and 14 assists in 39 games. His stellar performance has seemingly propelled him ahead of Brentford’s Ivan Toney on Arsenal’s wishlist.
With Arsenal honing in on Gyokeres, West Ham see an opportunity to ambitiously pursue Brentford’s Toney. This move is laced with a touch of irony, considering the Hammers previously passed on signing both Gyokeres and Toney at more affordable prices.
