The last couple days have seen Parma take a surprise lead in the race for Inter striker Sebastiano Esposito.

It has always seemed clear that the Italy Under-21 international would leave Inter for good this summer.

Esposito has gone out on a string of loan moves. Last season he was on loan at Empoli.

But this summer, Inter are keen to sell Esposito outright once and for all.

A few clubs had shown an interest in signing Esposito this summer.

Fiorentina have been eyeing up a deal for the 23-year-old for weeks. Meanwhile, Cagliari have pushed strongly in the last few days, seemingly getting close to securing Esposito’s signature.

Sky Sport Italia confirm that the Emilians are ready to pay Inter a fee of around €4 million for the 23-year-old. However, this would also contain a high sell-on fee, as much as 50%.

The clubs have gotten close to an agreement on the deal, Sky report.

And today there will be further negotiations. These could see Inter and Parma quickly work out the last details that will see Esposito finally leave Inter on a permanent basis.
