According to a report by L’Équipe, Stade Rennais are interested in securing the services of FC Lorient’s Eli Junior Kroupi (18) this summer.
In a disappointing season where Les Merlus were automatically relegated to Ligue 2, Kroupi had been one of the few bright sparks for the club. Particularly at the start of the campaign when he managed to record four of his five goals in the first 13 weeks of the season.
His performances and the obvious potential that he possesses were enough to earn Rennes’ interest. However, the French outlet writes that Les Rouges et Noirs are far from the only club interested in the Lorient youth product.
Still, despite Lorient dropping down to the second division they will be far from willing to allow their youth product to walk away from the club. Kroupi has a contract running until 2026, while the club president last December was quick to suggest to Prime Video Sport that “He is a child of the club and we will try to keep him for as long as possible.”
However, L’Équipe states that when Rennes were contacted about the story they denied negotiations had taken place.
