Renaud Emond scored Eupen’s first goal in six games as the side grabbed a crucial three points with just one more game to go in the regular season. The win for Florian Kohfeldt’s side means they move into the relegation play-off spot, leapfrogging RWDM in the process.

Yet it could get even better for Eupen. If they can beat Standard Liege next weekend, and OH Leuven fail to win, they will jump into 13th place. They will certainly have to thank Zion Suzuki for their win over Sint-Truiden on Sunday evening. The young Japanese goalkeeper dropped a cross that fell straight to Emond, who put the ball into the back of the net.

Eupen looked doomed having lost six games in a row without scoring a single goal. However, this win will give them some confidence going into the final game of the weekend. If they can open up a bigger gap to RWDM before the play-offs begin, they will have every chance of playing Pro League football next season once again.
