After much speculation, Club America announced on Friday that Ecuadorian international Renato Ibarra has signed a contract extension that will keep him in Mexico City until 2023.
For the past few weeks, club executives and manager Miguel Herrera spoke to the media about how they were working to resolve his contract.
During his time with the Mexican giants, Ibarra has scored nine goals in 109 matches and was a key member of the team that won the 2018 Apertura and 2019 Copa MX Clausura titles.
The winger arrived from Dutch side Vitesse in 2016 for $2.05m (€1.8m) and quickly became a consistent starter with Las Águilas.
Ibarra started his career with El Nacional back home that led him to a chance to play with Vitesse in 2011 and was a mainstay there for five seasons.
He will also be in the player pool for the Ecuadorian national when they compete in the Copa America this summer as they will be in Group A alongside Venezuela, Bolivia, and hosts Brazil.
