Club León have had their appeal denied to be reinstated for this summer's FIFA Club World Cup, with the team replacing them to be decided by a one-off match.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that Grupo Pachuca, owners of both Pachuca and León, cannot have both clubs participating in the inaugural expansion of the competition.

As such, FIFA have decided that the team replacing them will be decided via a one-off event between LAFC, who lost to León in the 2023 Concacaf Champions Cup final, and Club América, Mexico's most decorated team.

GiveMeSport revealed that this one-off match will take place on Saturday 31st May 2025, at LAFC's BMO Stadium.
