QPR are reportedly among the clubs chasing a move for Kemar Roofe this summer.
According to Football Insider, the West London club are interested in the Rangers striker as they look to bolster their attacking options for next year.
However, they face competition from the likes of Fulham, Southampton and Sheffield United.
The 31-year-old is set to be a free agent, with his contract expiring this summer, which makes him an attractive proposition.
Roofe has previously played for Leeds United in the Championship, and even bagged a hat-trick against QPR in December 2017.
FLW’s QPR fan pundit Louis Moir believes Roofe could be a solid signing for the club, provided he remains fit.
He has compared the forward to Nahki Wells, claiming Roofe could be capable of consistent goals at this level even into his 30s.
“Obviously I think he’s had a lot of struggles with injuries, but he is one that I would take I think,” Moir told Football League World.
“It’s quite evident we’ve been lacking goals, not just this season but the last few years really.
“I’d be more than happy with him as an option, I think if he was to keep fit I think he’d be capable of scoring quite a few in this league.
“I’m not sure if it’s a silly comparison, but he kind of reminds me of Nahki Wells, that player that’s ageing but is still capable of scoring goals in the Championship.
“When we had Nahki Wells, we saw that he could do that, and he’s still doing it now for Bristol City.
“Kemar Roofe is certainly one of those players that when he was at Leeds, every time we played them he seemed to step up and he always seemed to score against us.
“I’m sure he scored a hat-trick against us once at Loftus Road a few years ago, he’s always been one of those nippy, clever forwards.
“He got his move to Rangers, did alright initially up in Scotland.
“Perhaps he needs a career move now he’s heading into his early 30s.
“Hopefully there’s something in that, I’d be more than happy with him.
“We’d obviously need another striker as well, but Kemar Roofe would be a cracking little signing, I reckon.”
Roofe has struggled for game time in recent seasons, with injuries hampering his availability.
The Jamaica international has made 15 appearances in the league in the last two seasons, having previously featured 45 times in the two campaigns prior (all stats from Fbref).
He has contributed 26 goals in those four years, and helped Rangers secure a first league title in a decade in 2021.
Roofe is set to be available as a free agent this summer with his contract expiring in June.
QPR’s position in the second division isn’t guaranteed just yet, but their recent results have given them some breathing room in the relegation battle.
This has allowed planning to get underway for their transfer business, and Roofe is a potentially solid player to target.
Injuries are obviously a concern, but if he can remain fit then he could be what Martí Cifuentes’ side needs.
Their top scorer this year is Ilias Chair with just five goals, highlighting the need for attacking reinforcement this summer.
