John Patrick (21) who was born in Madrid but has represented the Republic of Ireland in an underage bracket is close to a move to France, according to a report from Le Parisien journalist Marc Mechenoua.
Stade de Reims have reached an agreement with Getafe for the midfielder who made two appearances for Ireland’s U19s in 2021. All that is left, is for Patrick to agree on personal terms with Reims before the move can be completed.
Patrick became Getafe’s youngest-ever debutante when he came off the bench during the league defeat to Levante in December 2020. He continued on to make seven further appearances during the 2020/21 season but has since seen his progress in the first team stall.
Patrick didn’t make another appearance for the first team until this season where he has appeared four times in La Liga and twice in the Copa del Rey. The midfielder will hope to continue his development in France under Luka Elsner’s Reims team.
