With Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun returning to North London at the end of the campaign, Reims face the task of replacing the USA international’s 20 league goals in the transfer window this summer.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Champagne outfit have identified Ivorian striker Oumar Diakité as a potential arrival, and are in talks with RB Salzburg to finalise the signing of the 19-year-old.

Diakité had spent this past season out on loan at second-tier team Liefering – as was the case last year, after he first arrived from Abidjan’s Mimosas – where he has scored nine goals. The deal that will see him move to Reims will reportedly consist of a €2.5m base fee, along with €1m in performance-related bonuses. A sell-on clause will see the Austrian champions pocket 15% of the profit on a prospective future transfer from the Ligue 1 side, as part of the 5-year contract Diakité is set to sign.
