AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has admitted that he has been working on his attacking positioning after he scored against Real Madrid.
Milan pulled off what might be the shock result of the night in the Champions League as they went to the Santiago Bernabeu and beat the current holders 3-1 thanks to goals from Malick Thiaw, Alvaro Morata and Reijnders.
The Dutchman scored what ended up being the killer goal on the night, his third of the competition so far too after the brace he netted against Club Brugge in the last round.
Rafael Leao went galloping down the left and into the box past Vazquez and squared it on a plate to the former AZ Alkmaar man, who managed to take a touch and lash a low shot underneath Lunin from close range.
Reijnders spoke to Milan TV after the game and gave his thoughts after a memorable night both personally and for the team.
“Something you want in big games, to score a goal of course. Tonight was a magical night for the team and for me, and I’m very proud of this,” he said.
“I think now I’m more ‘in the box’ instead of a little bit outside the box so I arrive more in the right places. It’s a good feeling of course, I worked on it last season already but this season it’s working out really well until now.
“Next Saturday we have another match and we have to be ready for that because in the league we also have to win our games. We can take the confidence from this game to the next match.”
