Belgium lost 2-1 to Egypt in a World Cup warm-up game in Kuwait. Goals from Mostafa Mohammed and Trezeguet were enough for the North African side, who will not be present in Qatar for the World Cup. Lois Openda, a second half substitute, grabbed what proved to be a consolation goal in the 78th minute. Belgium dominated possession, with 67%, however only two of their 8 shots were on target.
Defenders: Zeno Debast, Toby Alderweireld, Arthur Theate;
Midfielders: Timothy Castagne, Hans Vanaken, Axel Witsel, Yannick Carrasco;
Forwards: Kevin De Bruyne, Michy Batshuayi, Eden Hazard.
Youri Tielemans, Openda and Dries Mertens were all introduced at half time, replacing De Bruyne, Batshuayi and Vanaken. Injury scare Jan Vertonghen replaced Theate in the 71st minute, alongside Thomas Meunier who came on for Hazard. The final substitution made by Roberto Martinez was Castagne off in the 82nd minute, being replaced by Jeremy Doku.
Martinez indicated that the starting 11 was by no means the same that will take to the field against Canada on the 23rd of November, when Belgium begin their World Cup campaign.
