Red Bull have reportedly agreed to purchase a minority stake in Leeds with the soft drink conglomerate to become the club’s main shirt sponsor next season.

That’s according to a report in the Athletic on Thursday which claims that the Austrian company will buy a small stake in the Yorkshire club.

United are currently run by the 49ers Enterprise, the private equity arm of the San Francisco 49ers NFL franchise, who purchased Leeds last year.

But Red Bull will now become a small part of that ownership group with Leeds joining Leipzig and Salzburg as part of their football umbrella.

There is though, no discussion as to changing the club’s name, shirt colour or stadium name with the 49ers Enterprise holding a controlling stake and therefore the decision-making on such matters.
