Danish striker Chido Martin Obi is making waves with his extraordinary goalscoring form for Arsenal‘s youth teams. The 16-year-old’s talent has sparked a potential national team tug-of-war between Denmark, England, and Nigeria.

Obi recently made history, scoring seven astonishing goals against Norwich in the Premier League’s U18 series. This feat, including a 17-minute hat-trick, brings his season tally to a record-breaking 29 goals in just 16 games. Obi has been on a relentless scoring streak, netting an incredible 22 goals in his last seven matches.

Obi’s explosive form has caught the attention of multiple national teams. He has played for both Denmark’s and England’s U16 teams and currently represents Denmark at the U17 level. Additionally, he holds Nigerian citizenship, further expanding his potential national team options.

Reports indicate that the English Football Association is actively courting Obi, hoping to secure his commitment to England for the future.

Chido Martin Obi began his football journey at the Copenhagen club KB before joining Arsenal’s youth academy in 2022. His rapid ascent and prolific goalscoring make him one of the most exciting young prospects in European football.

Arsenal U18 manager Jack Wilshere has expressed immense satisfaction with the remarkable form of young striker Chido Martin Obi, who has been on a spectacular goal-scoring spree.

Since mid-March, Martin Obi has featured in seven U18 Premier League matches, scoring 24 goals during this period. This prolific scoring propelled Arsenal to six victories in seven matches, with only one draw. Such a scoring rate places Martin Obi at the top of the U18 Premier League top scorer’s list this season, a feat even more remarkable considering he achieved this in just seven games.

Martin Obi’s total of 28 goals this season not only marks a personal best but also sets a new record for Arsenal U18s, establishing him as the top U18 Premier League goal scorer in the club’s history. Remarkably, he has achieved this milestone as a 16-year-old schoolboy who has yet to sign scholarship terms with the club.

Following Arsenal’s emphatic 9-0 victory over Norwich City, Wilshere praised Martin Obi for his exceptional form and the significant impact it has had on the team. “Of course, it helps when you have a goal scorer like Chido who is on fire at the moment, and everything he touches seems to go in,” Wilshere said.

He added, “He’s worked so hard over the last couple of years, especially since we’ve had him at Sobha Realty Training Centre over the last six weeks, and he’s getting his rewards for that hard work. But, we’ve also got to give massive credit to the team for supplying him.”
