Considered one of the top footballers in history, Jennifer Hermosoâs talent has taken her to some of the biggest clubs in the world from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain to AtlĂŠtico Madrid.
Now in her second stint at the Catalan club, she wears the heavy number seven with ease, a feat which testifies to her talent and stature as well as the success of her career.
When playing in Spain, Hermoso has won five league titles, finished as top scorer four times, is a four-time Copa de la Reina champion and also won the 2020 Supercopa Femenina. Talk about a resume.
So far in the 2020-21 season, she has bagged a staggering 15 goals and seven assists in 15 matches to help Barça hold a seven-point lead and a +84 goal difference.
Here recent efforts have seen her score a hat-trick in her sideâs UEFA Womenâs Champions League victory over Fortuna Hjørring.
In an interview with BarçaTV in June last year, Hermoso expressed her wish to win more with the Spanish giants to proves her desire to squeeze every last drop out of her career.
âI hope I sill have a lot of football in me. I donât know what the future holds for me, but I want to keep growing,â she said. âI want to help Barça win every possible title.â
Her success on the pitch isnât only at the club level.
Since her debut in June 2012, Hermoso has developed into one of Spainâs best attackers, playing with the same amount of weight on her back, this time in the form of the No10.
In the recent Euro 2022 qualifiers, she scored a thumping five goals against Azerbaijan and is now Spainâs highest goalscorer with 42 goals in 82 official matches.
âJenni is one of the most talented players I have played with,â said Veronica Boquete afterwards. âShe is a scorer ⌠the numbers speak for themselves.â
âShe has always been a player who has stood out, who has left everyone who has seen her play with their mouths open,â added Adriana MartĂn.
âIf someone had to make history by being the top scorer of the national team, it had to be her.â
With a long list of accolades and her quality still on an upward trajectory, itâs easy to see how Hermoso continues to be a key figure in womenâs football.
By achieving new records and pushing herself and her team towards more victories, additional success is surely in sight.
At 30-years-old, one can only hope Hermosoâs magic will continue for years to come.
