The Hatters endured a disappointing campaign last time out as they were ultimately relegated from the Premier League, but they earned plenty of plaudits for the way they played and battled despite having vastly inferior resources in comparison to the majority of the league.

Now back in the Championship, the aim for Edwards will be to build a team that can bounce back at the first attempt, but new recruits will be required to do that.

Luton Town interested in Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

It has been claimed that Luton and Blackburn are monitoring Rak-Sakyi, who will be allowed to leave Palace on loan after a frustrating season where he struggled for game time and missed a big chunk through injury.

Prior to that, the winger had impressed in League One with Charlton on loan, where he became a key figure and regular scorer for the Addicks.

So, despite limited progress on the pitch in the past 12 months, the next step in his development would be to play regularly in the Championship, which is why there is interest.

Luton Town deemed a good fit for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

From Palace’s perspective, and the player, this next move will be about getting game time, but they will also want to find a club that has the structure on the pitch for Rak-Sakyi to thrive.

And, speaking to FLW, ex-England international Palmer explained that the coaching of Edwards means Kenilworth Road would be the perfect next destination for the 21-year-old.

You want to go to a club that’s going to do well, one that’s going to be at the top end of the Championship next season.

Luton Town, with Rob Edwards, would be a really, really good bet. They play an attacking style of football, and he’d fit in straight away there - I think that would be a fantastic move for him. I expect Luton to be there or thereabouts next season, and they play an attacking style of play which would suit Rak-Sakyi.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but it’s clear Palace will let him leave on loan next season, and Luton could be the likely destination.”

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi to Luton Town could suit all parties

Like all clubs who suffer relegation, Luton will be vulnerable to losing a few key players, and there has already been talk that Elijah Adebayo is on the radar of Fenerbahçe.

So, that is going to be a factor in what business they do, but they will still be able to press ahead with a few deals, particularly one such as this, as it’s a loan.

As Palmer explains, Edwards’ front-foot approach is going to suit the attacking players, and Luton need more quality in that final third.

Rak-Sakyi is someone who carries the ball well, and he also has composure and the technique to ensure that he takes the opportunities that come his way. Plus, his speed makes him a threat on the break.

Overall, he ticks a lot of boxes for Luton, and they would provide a great platform for Rak-Sakyi to show what he can do in the Championship, meaning this is a move that could really suit all parties.
