Real Sociedad are preparing to lose star midfielder Mikel Merino, who’s edging ever closer to joining Arsenal. The 28-year-old will need to be replaced, and although work is being done on a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Carlos Soler, he’s not the only player that is being sought.
In addition to Soler, La Real are pursuing Luka Sucic, who currently plays for RB Salzburg. He won’t be playing for the Austrian champions for much longer, as Diario Vasco (via Relevo) have reported that the 21-year-old is close to becoming the third player to head to the Reale Arena this summer.
La Real are well aware of Sucic, having faced him twice during last season’s Champions League group stages. He is more similar in profile to Brais Mendez rather than Merino, although he is left-footed, which is a positive.
Real Sociedad’s business should pick up in the coming weeks, given that they will soon have the funds for Merino added to those that they received for Robin Le Normand. Sucic certainly won’t be the last signing made this summer.
